A Launch device is a platform, and the software on it is what you are really buying. This category covers everything that keeps a tool current after purchase: renewal cards that extend the free update period, annual subscriptions for specific tools and modules, and individual function or gateway authorizations — the FCA Security Gateway authorization that European workshops need on Stellantis vehicles is the classic example.

Why this matters commercially: an expired tool loses access to new vehicle models, and a tool without the right authorization simply cannot do the job on the vehicles that require it. These are digital items — no shipping, no customs, no battery paperwork — delivered by serial-number activation on your registered device. Turnaround is typically the same business day once we have your serial number and the country the device is registered to.

Practical notes before ordering: renewals are tied to a specific serial number and cannot be transferred to another device; some subscriptions are tool-specific (a CRP129 MT subscription will not apply to a car platform); and authorizations activate only on devices registered in the eligible region. How is a renewal card delivered?

Digitally, by activating the renewal against your device serial number. There is no shipment and no customs involvement. Send us the serial number and confirm the registered country; activation is normally completed the same business day.

Can a subscription be transferred to another device later?

Generally no — subscriptions and renewals are bound to the serial number they were purchased for. If you plan to replace hardware, tell us first so we can advise on the most cost-effective sequence.

Do I need the FCA SGW authorization for European vehicles?

Vehicles built by FCA/Stellantis brands (and some other manufacturers) require a Security Gateway authorization before the diagnostic tool may perform certain functions on them. On supported Launch platforms this is purchased as an add-on authorization, tied to your registered region and device.
